I don’t know about you, but this 40-year-old papa is starting to feel the weight of 2 toddlers. I have slowly started to feel more back pain, more knee pain, and my recovery isn’t what it used to be. When The Pedorthic Association of Canada reached out to me, I never thought they might be just the answer I was looking for. Canadian Certified Pedorthists are foot orthotic and footwear experts who ensure you are wearing the appropriate support and shoes specific to you.
Walking into the clinic, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. The Canadian Certified Pedorthists made me walk and took pictures and video of how I was walking. From these pictures (see below), I learned why I had lower back and knee pain. He taught me what shoes I should be wearing and why I should not wear most of the ones I own. Wearing the wrong shoes can lead to a variety of foot, knee and lower back problems.
Proper footwear selection is essential to your overall health. Shoes play an integral role in supporting your entire body. They must provide both the right cushioning and support to minimize wear and tear on your joints and reduce muscle strain.
He then recommended me my own custom orthotics. The Orthotics were ready in about a week, and with gyms reopening, I’m was excited to try them out. I’ve been wearing my custom orthotics for over two weeks now, and let me tell you, my lower back feels fantastic. Training at F45 can be intense at times, with a lot of jumping and hopping. The orthotics give me extra support for my feet and are helping correct the balance issues had. It only took a week to get used to them, and now I love them.
I highly recommend going to see a Canadian Certified Pedorthist. I didn’t think I need to, but I’m glad I did. Custom orthotics are an investment that pays your body back exponentially over time. If you have pain in your feet, legs, knees, hips or back, a Canadian Certified Pedorthist can help you maintain your healthy, active lifestyle and keep you feeling great.
