Getting Through The Winter with Vicks and Braun

Having to tackle the Canadian weather after spending so much time in the Middle East was really daunting. The extreme cold and harsh winds were nearly impossible to bear for me, but even more uncomfortable and problematic for the twins. Getting through the winter nights was the biggest challenge. I would wake up in the morning with a blocked nose, congested chest, and the heat on full steam. My skin was intolerably itchy and dry. The twins, too, were aggressively bitten by the cold. I was worried more about the twins than for myself, and so I set out to find miracles that would fix our blocked noses and congested chests.
The first product that I got was Vicks® Cool Mist Humidifier, and believe me when I say this, the nights felt like heaven. Apart from the fact that you can purchase it at a really good price ($59.99) on @amazon, the humidifier passed all tests and was the PERFECT item I needed to keep my room protected from the dryness of the furnace heat.
Being a light sleeper, I was worried about the noise it would produce, but it really wasn’t loud at all. Once I put the humidifier on in my room, it started working as soon as the heat would come on. It offered a cool, visible mist that regulated the temperature of the room.
The best part is it works for a long time, not needing a refill for at least 15 hours. Before going to bed I’d put in on full blast and, by the time I woke up, it was still working—and working well.
So, after getting the blissful Vicks FilterFree Cool Mist Humidifier, the twins and I woke up having a good nights’ sleep with no breathing discomfort in the mornings.
The second product I got was the Braun Nasal Aspirator, which was specifically for the twins. The cold really got to them, and they always had stuffy noses which kept me worried. The stuffiness also affected the twins’ eating. The harsh weather drained the twin’s energies, and they caught flu and awful sounding coughs. Thankfully, the Braun Nasal Aspirator was easily available, and it helped the twins get a lot of relief. This aspirating saviour isn’t heavy on the pocket either (also $59.99).
The aspirator’s ergonomic design made it manageable and easy to use with the twins. You guys know how mischevious they can get, sometimes! All I had to do was keep the twins steady, and the aspirator took care of the rest. I took turns with them, slightly tilting their heads, and the aspirator sucked the mucus out of their tiny noses. This instantly allowed them to breathe without obstruction.
The aspirator also has buttons for low or high suction levels and a fast shut off. I didn’t have to worry about cleaning it either; its detachable parts allowed convenient cleaning. And trust me, the aspirator made zero noise, the whole sucking part was done very quietly and very gently.
The third must-have is the Braun ThermoScan®7 ($89.99). It’s considered to be the benchmark for accuracy. Thanks to its wide-angle probe, The ThermoScan® 7 is designed to give accurate measurements for the entire family, including the small ear canal of a newborn. It’s the only thermometer that pre-warms the tip to 34 degrees Celsius to achieve professional accuracy and provide extra comfort. It’s fast, easy and gentle to use and with twins that is one of the most important things for me. It also comes with disposable probe covers that help prevent the spreading of germs another super important thing for me because one sick baby is hard enough.
Getting the Vicks® Cool Mist Humidifier, Braun Nasal Aspirator and the Braun ThermoScan®7 for soothing down the effects of the harsh weather was one the best decisions I made!
